    New Safer Ambulance Gurney
    24. September 2009 @ 10:37
MonsterMedic, the new kid on the block, has managed to design and build a revolutionary new ambulance gurney. The CoreMed-x
was designed by EMTs, Firefighters and engineers for the EMS
Professional. Careful attention to detail is evident when you first
look at it. Along both sides of the gurney are easy lift bars,
essentially giving the gurney the ease of lifting, similar to that of a
backboard, (there is room for up to eight people to assist in the
lift). No matter where you grab hold of this gurney, there are no 'pinch
points'. The restraint system is first; set up with the shoulder straps
where they belong, over the shoulder and not along side the patient's
ears and second; utilizes very sturdy speed clips that can be released
from their mounts and re-secured anywhere on the gurney, to customize
the proper restraining of the patient for safe transport. The wheels
are oversized in comparison to other gurneys, giving the CoreMed-X
the ability to navigate some of the toughest terrain out there. The
base or carriage of the gurney is also a little wider and longer giving
the CoreMed-X an incredibly stable platform.  And that was just their manual X frame gurney. MonsterMedic also offers a 'power' version of this incredible tool. The PowerMed-X
has all of the same safe features as well as a host of others. With the
ability to lift 700 pounds unassisted, this power horse packs an
awesome punch. At the heart of the device are two Lithium-Ion batteries
which will provide 140 lifts and are engineered in such a way that every lift from the first to the last are identical, in other words, unlike standard portable
tools, the power does not wind down with continued use. The brain of
the device is an onboard computer that controls all of the electrical
functions of the gurney including battery level indicator, patient's
weight in kg, tip sensor and a variety of other functions. I believe
the tip sensor or 'Stabilatraxx', is very impressive. Not only will it
sense if the patient is in a potentially unsafe angle but it will also
alert the EMT with an audible sound and stop the lift. Both gurneys can
be secured in the ambulance with your current mounting hardware,
however I strongly suggest using theirs due to a special guide that
stops the drifting of the gurney while loading.
